Japanese Woodblock Printing Process

Just because I could during Spring Break, I created a short iMovie to illustrate all the steps that go into creating a full-color Japanese woodblock print. This particular example shows how 21 individual woodblocks add all the colors, shadows, and highlights to the final print. I always liked this genre aesthetically, but knowing the sheer amount of time and technique it took to create one of these images makes me appreciate it even more.
