We've got a new way for students to study for exams and quizzes in the SU Art History department. Students in Dr. Hajovsky's 'Art of Mesoamerica' and Dr. Smith's 'Revolution, Romanticism, and Realism' may want to check out iFlipr, http://iflipr.com/.
Anyone with an iPhone or iPod touch can purchase the iFlipr application for $5.99 and download course flashcard packs. They can also use the application to create their own flash cards, useful for science terms or foreign language coursework.
Students without smart phones, or not wishing to pay for the flashcards, can still view/practice with the flashcards online. On iFlipr's homepage, just hit 'Use the Web App'. Search for the decks using the names given by your professor, and you can be studying for your quiz or midterm very quickly.
Here is a useful video tutorial by iFlipr's creator:
The department welcomes feed back on our experiment with digital flashcards. Know of other applications that would be useful? Would you like to see similar offerings on an Android platform? Let me or your professors know!
