Be sure to have a look at the latest offering in the SSFA Gallery, a senior exhibition titled 'Flickerings in the Grotto of Duality'. It will be viewable December 3-12 from 1 to 5 daily. The opening reception is this Thursday at 6.
From the official SU news blurb: "The investigation of duality in art ties the artworks of Duncan Alexander and Jennifer Krenek together. Krenek’s paintings of glass, textiles, and organic forms examine physical existence within her personal interpretations of Manichean dualism. Alexander’s “projection paintings” explore through superimposition the two planes on which culture exists today-the digital and physical worlds."
I had the privilege of working with Duncan a couple summers back, and of course enjoyed his work in the Color of Dissonance opera, so I am particularly excited to see this show.
Here is a clip of Duncan's work from Color of Dissonance, which deservedly won the 2008-9 Austin Critics' Table Award for best design in a local artistic production.
