Last Chance to See Chinese Facsimile Scrolls

Before you leave for Thanksgiving Break, stop in and see the SSFA's gallery exhibit ''Turning the Tradition: Transforming the Past in Chinese Landscape Painting". This lovely show was put together by students in Dr. Tenckhoff's Chinese Painting capstone seminar. From SU's Freeman-funded holdings, each student selected a full-size facsimile reproduction of a Chinese landscape in the Palace Museum collection. Students researched each piece and wrote all the captions for the show, as well as arranged the attractive layout within the gallery space. The best part is that you get a sense of how large and impressive these scrolls are- an aspect that just never comes through in lecture courses.

The gallery will be open 1-5pm through tomorrow, November 24.
